In it’s 7th year, Zilch to 5K is a class where “fast” is a 13-minute pace! A foot specialist will meet with you the first night of class to discuss foot and arch structure and running injuries and how to prevent them.
The Tortoise and Hare staff will be on hand to help you find the right shoes for your arch type. Participants are not expected to be at every walk/run. However, to get the most out of the class, doing the suggested workout for the day will be beneficial.
Coach Eve Graves will be at all of the walk/runs to follow along with the class participants, and no one will ever have to walk or run alone. This class is intended for those who prefer to move slowly. It is at at the pace of the person in the back.
Through this class you will: Learn how to run or walk a 5k safely. Learn how to use Theraband. Perform yoga, cross training and more!

The environment, terrain, and overall focus of trail running & walking are quite different from road running & walking, so it is important to be prepared. One of the reasons some people are wary of trails is that they are afraid of getting injured.
The uneven terrain, rocks, roots, narrow paths, and hills cause many inexperienced individuals to become anxious about what might happen. It does take a little while to become adept at “seeing” the trail, but by taking Trails 101, a beginner level course, you will safely gain the tools to make your first experience with trails a successful one!

XTraining 101 is an introductory class for beginners and those who like to move slowly in a variety of activities that will help you become more fit, reduce your injury risk, and stay active during the winter.
Research finds that substituting some of your weekly running mileage with cross training can maximize your overall running quality and fitness level.
